My blog looks fine in firefox but if you view it in IE the font is huge & the layout jumbled.

Anyone able to determine what is causing this?

Let me brief you a bit about FireFox and Internet Explorer. Each browser has their own limitations when comes to Html and CSS. That's why your pages are appearing differently with IE on windows. For example:-
a- the photo image is total to 595px wide. If there is more than 8px of margin/padding, then they won't fit side-by-side in the 600px wide table cell.
b- worst scenario if your are using Internet Explorer, the browser can't interpret the width/height in percentage (%). Check your html codes and set it back to px.
I recommend that you start by fixing the markup errors. In order to do that, you need to validate your html codes and start using the Markup Validator to find out more about the errors.
As for me, I'm in the same situation as you are but I'm so lazy to fix it :)
