Blogging Tip : Getting The Reader's Interest

Whenever I visit a site, I always take time to read the content. But reading on a computer screen is much difficult than reading from newspaper. If your text is difficult to read, your readers will not only become frustrated but also causes eyestrain. As for me, I'll pretty much stop reading and continue to drop my biz card.

This example demonstrates how you define a font for your blog like so:-

/* Post Styles */
.post {
margin: 0px;
padding: 10px;
font-family: Arial,Helvetica,Sans Sherif;
font-size: 12px;
color: #000000;
line-height: 1.6em;
}

It tells us, if the reader's computer doesn't have the Arial font, then it goes on to the second text which is Helvetica, if that's not there as well, then it goes to the third ones! You may also change the sequence and adding a new font. If your text is too small, then change the font size! Make it readable.

Fonts that work on Windows and Mac Os but not Unix+X are as follow:-
a- Verdana
b- Georgia
c- Comic Sans MS
d- Arial Black
e- Impact
f- Trebuchet MS
(source: Safe web fonts)

It is very important that you do everything you can to make your readers as comfortable as possible. Use an easy-to-read font such as Arial or Verdana and use black text on a white background. In addition, make sure you use plenty of white space. White space is the empty space between your paragraphs and around your text. In this case, I'm referring to the line height.

To spice up your blog's appearance, you may want to add a colorful border, subject dividers and relevant images. This will also keep your reader interested.

I don't get you!!! If you're asking me that you're having problems on how to setup with or without the “www” prefix for your custom domain, then I'd suggest you to fix your DNS settings or if you want to get rid of your subdomain without losing any of your backlinks, the answer is still the same. As we all know, inbound links lead to a greater Page Rank.

Text on websites should always be the nicest looking common denominator. Sticking Gothic Sans in there is just going to give me a headache. If you want something fancy limit it to your header/banners.
